Color. Brown, or mottled yellow and brown.
Shape. Body ovate (
Fig. 1
).
Head. Anteclypeusmaxillary plate suture shorter than anteclypeusloral plate suture; anteoculus shorter than interoculus; eyes triangular, longer than wide (
Fig. 2
); segment I of beak distinctly shorter than segment II (
Fig. 3 a
).
Thorax. Prosternal keel acutely pointed, projecting anterad (
Fig. 3 b
). Front tarsus onesegmented, with vestigial claws. Hind legs subquadrate in cross section and with hydrofuge hairs and spines, densely arranged.
Abdomen. Pilosity covering almost half of laterotergites and sides of genital operculum; with fold arising from basal angle of genital operculum, this fold subdividing fifth and sixth sternites (
Fig. 4
). Air straps separated from abdominal middle line.
Male genitalia. Ventral diverticulum curved ventrad, fused with aedeagus (
Fig. 5
), and distally slightly concave (
Fig. 6
). Phallobase covering ventral diverticulum at thickened lateral margins (
Figs. 5, 7
).
