Diagnosis.
Dima fthiotidensis
is a medium-sized species (body length:
10.5–14.5 mm
) with matt, densely punctate pronotum (
Figs 130–134
), more or less decumbent pubescence on the pronotal lateral margin, moderately densely pubescent pronotum and elytra, and the tongue-like, convex scutellum with steeply declined frontal margin (
Fig. 166
). This species is similar in the above mentioned characters to
D
.
evritaniensis
, however the latter differs in the slightly finer punctation of pronotum, longer hairs on pronotum and elytra, semi-erect pubescence on the pronotal sides (
Figs 26–28
,
126–127
), and longer apical lobe of paramera (
Fig. 183
). The remaining species occurring in the surrounding mountains have a shiny pronotum with sparser punctation. Additionally,
D
.
pelionensis
sp. nov.
and
D
.
etoliensis
have a flattened scutellum, and
D
.
hladilorum
and
D
.
zbuzeki
sp. nov.
have a more robust and longer apical lobe of paramera, respectively (
Figs 190
,
221
). The sclerotized spines of bursa copulatrix as in
Fig. 229
.
Intraspecific variability.
The specimens from Mt. Iti have a darker body. Several specimens (including the
holotype
of
D
.
scutellaris
) have slightly wrinkled to rugose pronotum with denser punctation (
Fig. 132
). The scutellum is more or less convex, in some cases with a longitudinal shiny keel running from the base towards apex. Most specimens have pubescence near anterior pronotal angles oriented latero-posteriorly, but a female from Mt. Iti has pubescence oriented medio-posteriorly.
Distribution.
Greece
(Mt. Kallidromo, Mt. Iti, Vardousia Mts., Giona Mts., Oxia Mts.;
Fig. 245
).
Remark.
We were not able to study the
holotype
of
D
.
fthiotidensis
(deposited in Torino,
Italy
), however we examined four
paratypes
, recently collected specimens from the
type
locality (Mt. Kallidromo;
Fig. 38
), and the specimens from the surrounding mountain ranges to investigate the limits of this species (
Figs 39–41
).
Platia (2010)
described
D
.
scutellaris
from a single female from Mt. Giona, with a raised scutellum and wrinkled pronotum with denser punctation. This specimen, however, fits the definiton of
D
.
fthiotidensis
in all aspects, and what is more, we found similarly wrinkled (teratological?) female specimens in the Vardousia Mts. (see the similar cases in
D
.
assingi
/
D
.
peloponnensis
and
D
.
fialai
). Therefore, we herein synonymize

under

.
Schimmel & Platia (2008)
described
D
.
fokidensis
from three female specimens. The
holotype
comes from Mt. Iti and
paratypes
from Mt. Pelion, which is located more than
80 km
away from the
holotype
locality. This
holotype
was found to be conspecific with
D
.
fthiotidensis
(described in the same paper as
D
.
fokidensis
;
Fig. 36
) and both
paratypes
represent a new species, described here as
D
.
pelionensis
sp. nov.
(
Fig. 95
). Therefore, we herein synonymize
