Simulium ( Gomphostilbia ) charlesi Takaoka, 2008 Simulium ( Gomphostilbia ) charlesi Takaoka, 2008b : 203 –210 (Female, male, pupa and larva). This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Bario, Sarawak ( Takaoka, 2008b ). It is characterized by the male style widened, and the pupal gill with eight filaments arranged as 3+3+2 from dorsal to ventral, of which the inner filament of the ventral pair is a little longer and thicker than the ourter filament. This species was also collected from Peninsular Malaysia (Takaoka, 2012). The pupae and larvae of this species occur in small to medium-sized lowland streams.
