This species was described from females, pupae and larvae collected from Mt. Tahan (Takaoka and Davies, 1995). The male remains unknown. It is distinguished from

in the pupa by the cocoon without an anterodorsal projection and the short common basal stalk, and in the larva by the absence of an accessory sclerite.
Beside the type locality, one pupa was found in a stream (

in elevation) in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, where
