Simulium ( Nevermannia ) pairoti Ya’cob, Takaoka & Sofian-Azirun, in Ya’cob et al ., 2017: 133–141 (Female, male, pupa and larva). This species was described from males, pupae and larvae collected from Cameron Highlands (Ya’cob et al ., 2017). It was formerely regarded as S . ( N .) feuerborni originally described from Java, Indonesia (Edwards, 1934). It is distinguished from S . ( N .) feuerborni by the male paramere with 5 hooks (3 or 4 hooks in the latter species). The immature stages of this species appear to breed in small to medium-sized streams at high elevations ( 1,000–1,813 m ) in Cameron Highlands (Ya’cob et al. , 2016b). No additional material was found in other areas, though it was once recorded from Fraser’s Hill (Takaoka and Davies, 1995).
