Simulium ( Gomphostilbia ) hoiseni Takaoka, 2008 Simulium ( Gomphostilbia ) hoiseni Takaoka, 2008a : 9 –14 (Male and pupa). This species was described from a male reared from a pupa ( Takaoka, 2008a ). Its female and larva remain unknown. It is characterized in the male by abdominal segments 2–8 each with a pair of shiny dorsolateral or lateral patches, and in the pupa by the gill with six filaments. This is a rare species being found once only from the type stream (at an elevation of 1,570 m ) in Cameron Highlands. No additional specimens are available from the type locality or nearby streams.
