China (Guangxi Prov., Yunnan Prov.); Myanmar (Dawna); Vietnam (Bac Kan Prov., Lao Cai Prov., Tuyen Quang Prov.). Remarks . This species was originally described by Navás (1926) based on two specimens collected from Ngan–Son, Tonkin , which is probably a locality in the Bac Kan Province of northern Vietnam . However, due to the poor original description and illustration, the specific identity of this species was obscured for a long time with no further information being reported after the original description. Fortunately, we found the two syntypes identified by Navás as P. striatulus in DEI in fine condition. Examination of these specimens confirmed their membership in the Protohermes costalis group ( Liu et al. , 2007a ). Additionally, these specimens were identical to those described as Protohermes basiflavus Yang, 2004 . Therefore, we herein treat P. basiflavus as a junior synonym of P. striatulus and designate a lectotype and paralectotype for the species.
