Calapnita bohol
sp. nov.
Figs 129–130
,
228–235
Diagnosis
. Distinguished from other species of
vermiformis
group by tip of procursus (ventral flap bilobed;
Fig. 228
) and by oval pore plates in transversal orientation (
Fig. 235
; similar only in
C. bugis
). From
C. bario
and
C. bariengi
also by distal cheliceral apophyses clearly bipartite (
Fig. 232
); from
C. saluang
and
C. bugis
also by wide proximal part of bipartite cheliceral apophyses (
Fig. 232
); from several species also by continuous wide connection between epigynal plate and ‘knob’ (
Fig. 234
), and by pale male sternum.
Etymology
. The species name is derived from the
type
locality; noun in apposition.

Description. Male
(
holotype
)
MEASUREMENTS. Total body length 5.9, carapace width 0.75. Leg 1: 32.4 (8.2 + 0.3 + 7.3 + 14.0 + 2.6), tibia 2: 5.6, tibia 3: 3.5, tibia 4: 6.0; tibia 1 L/d: 122. Distance PME-PME 230 µm, diameter PME 90 µm, distance PME- ALE ~30 µm; no trace of AME.
COLOR. Entire animal pale gray to whitish, legs slightly yellowish with brown patellae and tibia-metatarsus joints.
BODY. Habitus as in
Fig. 129
; ocular area barely elevated, each triad on very low hump; carapace without median furrow; clypeus unmodified; sternum slightly wider than long (0.50/0.48), unmodified.
CHELICERAE. As in
Figs 232–233
, with pair of bipartite apophyses near lamellae and pair of lateral humps; without modified hairs; without stridulatory ridges.
PALPS. In general similar to
C. vermiformis
(cf. figs 139 and
140 in
Huber 2011
); trochanter apophysis as in
Fig. 230
, with small tubercles and subdistal process; femur as in
Fig. 231
, distal process at 35% of femur length; tibia length/diameter 0.62/0.33; procursus as in
Figs 228–229
, ventro-distal sclerite bilobed, i.e. with additional prolateral lobe; bulb length 0.39; embolus length 0.70.
LEGS. Without spines and curved hairs; few vertical hairs; retrolateral trichobothrium on tibia 1 at 1.5%; prolateral trichobothrium absent on tibia 1, present on other tibiae; tarsus 1 pseudosegments not seen in dissecting microscope.
Male
(variation). Tibia
1 in
2 other males: 7.2, 7.6.
Female
. In general similar to male; eye triads slightly closer together (distance PME-PME 210 µm). Tibia
1 in
9 females
: 5.7–6.6 (mean 6.1). Epigynum as in
Fig. 234
, weakly sclerotized, wide anterior ‘knob’; internal genitalia as in
Fig. 235
, with distinctive elongate pore plates in transversal orientation.
Natural history
. At the
type
locality, most specimens were collected from taro leaves at a forest edge near the village. Individual leaves were sometimes shared by an unidentified species of
Belisana
. At this locality, no specimens were found in the forest.
Distribution
. Known from
Bohol
Island
only (
Fig. 284
).
