TYPE SPECIES. — A. alba Link, 1807 (monotypy). DIAGNOSIS. — Shells small to large, relatively thin-shelled, usually white, globose, subcircular, exterior smooth with irregular commarginal growth increments. Hinge teeth absent. Ligament internal either in a groove or laterally inset. Anterior adductor muscle scar generally long and in most species detached from pallial line for at least half of length. Pallial line entire or divided. REMARKS Full synonymies, descriptions and distribution maps for species and genera in the Anodontia group are given in Taylor & Glover (2005) . Twenty-five species are recognised worldwide.
