. (Curoïco and Mapiri,
Bolivia
)
REMARKS. This is one of the four smallest Bolivian species of
Carineta
(body size <
17 mm
). It is most similar to
C. tetraspila
Jacobi, 1907
with the mesothoracic sigillae being outlined in piceous in both species. It can be distinguished from
C. tetraspila
by the incomplete mark across the dorsal midline of the prothorax ambient fissure, the piceous markings on the lateral pronotum, and the lack of longitudinal stripes on the ventral postclypeus in
C. garleppi
. It can be distinguished from
C. pictilis
n. sp.
by the mesothoracic sigillae being mostly or completely filled with piceous rather than being outlined by piceous as in
C. garleppi
and can be distinguished from
C. uncinata
n. sp.
by the lack of piceous on the mesothorax and the single midline spot on the pronotum ambient fissure rather than mesothoracic sigillae being outlined by piceous and the majority of the ambient fissure being filled with piceous in
C. garleppi
.
DISTRIBUTION. The species has been reported only from
Bolivia
(
Metcalf 1963c
). The species has been recorded from Curoïco and Mapiri (
Jacobi 1907
).
