Diagnosis:
Biflagellated colourless protists of unknown affinities. Body rigid and flattened with ventral depression subapically. With two flagella, both inserting into ventral depression. The anterior flagellum is directed anterior-laterally to the left, the other trailing. Move by gliding.

Etymology:
the name refers ‘to the left’.
