Adoxomyia argenteofasciata
Bezzi
is a widespread Afrotropical species and as
Woodley (2011)
pointed out, Séguy (1930) did not compare
Cormacantha grisea
with
A. argenteofasciata
(at the time still placed in
Clitellaria
). We studied the female holotype of
Cormacantha grisea
[MNHN] (
Fig.14
) and it agrees completely with the description of
A. argenteofasciata
and all the other specimens from Africa which we identified as
A. argenteofasciata
. The species is characterized by a small flange on the gena which is uncommon in this genus.
