The distinguishing feature of this species is coarse costellation ( Havlíček 1972 ) of high rounded costellae, with narrower interspaces rarely supplemented by a secondary intercalated costellae. Preservation is exclusively in quartzitic sandstone, which preserves the original convexity, but fine ornamentation details are absent. Almost all preserved specimens have rectimarginal anterior commissure, apart from the single specimen figured by Havlíček (1972 : pl. 1, fig. 3). S. hornyi apparently preferred conulariid hosts or large orthocone cephalopods. O c c u r r e n c e.
