Adult (Fig. 66) wingspan 8.0̄11.0 mm. Palumbina oxyprora is characterized by the forewing with a very slender and long upper distal streak sometimes curved dorsad distally, and a lower distal streak usually curved ventrad distally, or with either a spot or a short streak on dorsum formed by interruption of fuscous scales before end (Fig. 66); the male genitalia are differentiated from P. guerinii and P. magnisigna sp. nov. by the slender valva and the larger anellus lobe (Fig. 89) that is constricted at the base; the female genitalia are very similar to those of P. guerinii , but can be distinguished by the distal margin of tegumen VIII that it is slightly emarginated in oxyprora (Fig. 109) while it is somewhat convex in guerinii (Fig. 108). The forewing coloration and markings can be confused with P. magnisigna sp. nov. and the differences between the two species are given under the latter species. Distribution . China ( Chongqing , Guangdong , Guizhou , Hainan , Henan , Hubei , Shanghai , Shanxi , Taiwan , Yunnan , Zhejiang ), India . Remarks. The identification of this species was confirmed by examining photographs of the type specimen deposited in MNHN. The type specimen was not dissected, but externally it presents distinct characters such as palpus with long hair pencil nearly reaching the apex and the pattern of forewing streaks. Thyrsostoma albilustra ( Walia et Wadhawan 2005a ) described from India is synonymized with P. oxyprora in this study based on the original description and genital illustrations. This species is distributed widely from Shanxi in the north, to Hainan in the south, while the similar species P. magnisigna sp. nov. is mainly restricted to south based on the specimens examined.
