Forewings 1.9 times longer than wide, length: male 3.1–3.6 mm (mean = 3.4, n= 7), female 3.6–4.6 mm (mean = 4.1, n= 11). Colour stramineous to light brown; a red mark in front of eyes. Forewings white, powdered; two bands of faint infuscation across wing, one from first subcostal sector to the hind margin distad of clavus apex, the second along the apical cross-veins; veins white to stramineous; rarely apical cross-veins faintly tinted with orange. Rostrum surpassing hind coxae; subantennal processes connected to margins of facial carinae. Forewings with Sc+R fork well before middle of wing; Ms1 branched at apex of basal median cell, Ms1a straight, a triangle at base of Ms1. Male anal segment with small lateral processes. Genital styles elongated, truncate at the apex; proximal dorsal process short, distal dorsal process elongated, both well separated. Aedeagus stem with a dorsal hook-like projection just before apical portion; apical part tapering towards the end; on the right side, a flat dorsal lobe. Etymology . The species name is a Latin adjective ( erraticus , -a, -um = errant, wandering). Type material. Distribution . New Guinea , New Britain, Vanuatu Islands. Diagnosis. Levu erraticus shows similarities to L. simplissimus sp. nov. from New Guinea . It can be recognized by the bright red mark in front of the eyes, the dorsal projection on the stem of the male aedeagus, and by the forewings having Ms1 branched at the apex of the basal median cell.
