Forty-two species have been described in this genus but only four species from 13 host species have been collected. Unidentified Mesoplophora were collected from 13 host species. In total, mites were collected from 15 host species ( Norton 1980 ; Niedbała 1985 , 1985 ; Poinar et al . 1998 ; Villegas-Guzmán et al . 1998; Ermilov and Frolov 2019 , 2021; Martinez et al . 2020 ; Ermilov and OConnor 2021 ). The largest number of host species was found for Mesoplophora flavida Niedbała, 1985 (7) and M. subtilis Niedbała, 1981 (6). Only Mesoplophora flavida , M. permodica and Mesoplophora sp. have been found on Macrolinus latipenis (Percheron, 1841) ( Tables 2– 6 , 13 ).
