INDONESIA , E. Java, Mt. Ardjoeno, 6000 ft ., I. 1936 , E. le Moult, 1 ♂ (NHM). Discussion. Mycomya occultans belongs to the subgenus Mycomya s. str. It has a conspicuous mid-coxal spur and long, narrow medial processus of the tergal part of the male hypopygium. The species is widely distributed in the Palaearctic region ( Väisänen 1984a ) and is recorded here as new to the Indonesian fauna. The discovery of M. occultans from Java is quite surprising, although there are also records from India ( Väisänen 1984a ), Myanmar ( Väisänen 1996 ), Shanxi, Zhejiang and Guizhou Provinces of China ( Wu & Yang 1994 ), the Kuril Islands of the Russian Far East ( Väisänen 1984a ), Japan ( Sasakawa 1961 , Väisänen 1984b ), and South Korea ( Väisänen 2013b ). Jakovlev (2011) summarized information on the biology of M. occultans . The species has been recorded from bracket fungi growing on broad-leaved trees. Jakovlev obtained it in Finland from Laxitextum bicolor ( Pers .) Lentz on a rotting birch log on the ground.
