Remarks.
This species was described based on
syntypes
from
Brazil
(without detailed locality).
Lameere (1884)
was first to report a specific locality: near
Rio de Janeiro
(
Brazil
,
Rio de Janeiro
). Currently it is known from
Brazil
(Amazonas, Pará,
Minas Gerais
,
Rio de Janeiro
) and
Bolivia
(
Cochabamba
,
Santa Cruz
) (Monné 2023;
Bezark 2023b
;
Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023
).
The typical form of
A. consentaneus
has the outer apical angle of the elytra distinctly spiniform. However, we have already examined specimens with the apical spine short or just barely protruding, as in the specimen from
Ecuador
. Furthermore, the outer elytral apex is quite variable in
A. jaspideus
(Germar, 1823)
, a species quite similar to
A. consentaneus
, of which we have examined hundreds of specimens.
