Scalpellomorphs having a capitulum of no more than 14 plates. Plates deployed in two groups: the upper group formed by paired plates S-L1-T and the lower by unpaired plates R and C with the paired plates RL-L2-CL in between. R is always reduced and sometimes lost, RL is lost in
Scalpellopsis
, and L2, which ranges from well develop to reduced, is completely lost in
Zevinaella
.
