Minicorydia
Qiu, Che and Wang
gen. nov.
Type
species
Minicorydia maoxiana
Qiu, Che and Wang
sp. nov.
– here designated.
Diagnosis
The females of
Minicorydia
Qiu, Che and Wang
gen. nov.
,
Therea
Billberg
and
Ergaula
are all beetle mimics. According to the definition by
Rehn (1951)
, they should all belong to the tribe
Corydiini
because the females are winged. Other characters they have in common are the thick tegmina, and the protruding but not valved media of subgenital plates. The female
Minicorydia
can be easily distinguished from the latter two by its distinctively small body (10.0 mm); unicoloured brown overall colouration; and pronotum and tegmina with short, dense pubescence. Female
Therea
are characterised by their large (about 17.5–24.0 mm) and round body; pronotum with long setae; and tegmina with large bright spots. Female
Ergaula
are characterised by their larger (25.0–36.0 mm) and oval body; extremely thick pronotum with dense protuberances; and unicoloured tegmina.
