COMMENTS: No type was designated in the original description, nor was there mention of the number of specimens available to Brehm.
Hartert (1918a: 27)
listed the above specimen as the type of
lugens
, thereby designating it the
lectotype
. It is the only Brehm specimen of this form from
Greece
that came to AMNH.
Kleinschmidt (1897: 95–96)
gave this specimen the number ‘‘42’’ and illustrated its bill, but did not discuss it further.
