Distribution of Larinia species in subtropical South America and detail from species recorded of State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. BRA, Brazil; BOL, Bolivia; CHI, Chile; PAR, Paraguay, ARG, Argentina; URU, Uruguay. Diagnosis. The male of Larinia robusta new species differs from the other Neotropical species in the genus by the strong dorsal spiniform cymbial setae (Figs. 15–17, 24) and by the strong sclerotized tegulum bearing a prolateral triangular process, with a pointed projection in tegulum in prolateral view (Figs. 15, 24). The females differ from the other Neotropical species by the trapezoidal epigynum bearing an anterior mesial depression and a subquadrate short scape (Figs. 18, 19). Description. Male holotype . Carapace yellow with brown median line and darker areas surrounding the cephalic region (Fig. 11). Chelicerae, coxae and legs yellow. Labium and endites dark brown. Sternum yellow with slightly darker spots anteriorly and posteriorly (Fig. 13). Abdomen gray with mesal white spots and transversal dark pattern, anterior hump present, almost white and bearing a central black spot (Fig. 11); venter grayish with a small light central white spot, darker mesally and on spinnerets (Fig. 13). Femur I prolaterally covered with long and strong spiniform setae (Fig. 11). Palp: cymbium distal portion bearing three strong spiniform setae; tegulum heavily sclerotized with darkened prolateral triangular pointed process; median apophysis with very narrow and pointed anterior process and small triangular posterior process, forming just a very low crest (Figs. 15–17, 24, 25). Color as in male, but lighter pigmentation (Fig. 12); anterior hump of abdomen very conspicuous; a pair of dark spots in the anterior third of the dorsum of abdomen (Fig. 12); abdomen venter grayish with a broad central white spot; dark gray areas in front of the spinnerets are brown (Fig. 14). Epigynum: trapezoidal, bearing an anterior mesial depression and a subquadrate short scape (Figs. 14, 18, 19). Total length 6.89. Carapace 2.87 long, 2.07 wide. AME 0.16, PME 0.13, ALE and PLE 0.11.
