Remarks:
A detailed description of this species is given by
Kaas & Van Belle (1985)
. Collected valves agree with those of
C. clausadeae
, although their preservation is not very good. The only appreciable difference found relates to its slit formula, 12–16/1/12–15 vs. 18/1/12 reported by
Kaas & Van Belle (1985)
. Also the pits in pleural areas are variable in number, up to 7–8 vs. 4–6 reported by
Kaas & Van Belle (1985)
; some are more elongated and the outer ones can reach the anterior margin.
This is the first report of this species for the
Maldive Islands
.
Distribution:
Callochiton clausadeae
is reported from
Madagascar
,
Mauritius
,
Réunion
, and the
Maldive Islands
.
