So far it is only known from the
type
locality, in the Goiko errotako zuloa cave, Leitza,
Navarra
, not appearing in other neighboring caves (
Beruete 2000a
,
Beruete
et al.
2001

). It lives in an active cavity, with the circulation of a permanent underground river in the lower level, which in times of heavy rain or thaw can flood the entry level. The distance between this cave and that of Akelar, one of the caves inhabited by
D. akelaris
, does not reach
10km
. It has been found on the surface of puddles and gours, as well as on scattered
Rhinolophus
sp.
guano.
