Syntypes.
2 ♀ (NHMW-7986), Seychelles,
Mahe
Island, primeval forest, 1895, leg. A. Brauer.
Descriptive notes.
Length 19-20 mm, width of midbody pro- and metazona 2.1-2.2 and 2.5-2.6 mm, respectively. Coloration of alcohol material upon long-term preservation uniformly light grey-brown (Fig. 115).
Metaterga densely and irregularly setose. All other somatic characters as in Fig. 115.
Figure 115.
Orthomorpha crinita
Attems, 1900, ♀ syntype. A, B anterior part of body, dorsal and lateral views, respectively C, D segments 10 and 11, dorsal and lateral views, respectively
E-G
posterior part of body, lateral, dorsal and ventral views, respectively H samplelabels.
Remarks.
This species has been described from three ♀ syntypes, still known only from the type locality:
Mahe
Island, Seychelles (
Golovatch & Gerlach 2010
). Superficially, it differs readily from the only other paradoxosomatid endemic to the Seychelles,
Diglossosternoides curiosus
Golovatch and
Korsos
, 1992, tribe
Eustrongylosomatini
, in the remarkably densely setose collum and following metaterga (
Golovatch and
Korsos
1992
).
Based both on the morphological characters (e.g. the narrow paraterga and densely setose metaterga) and distribution, there can be no doubt that
Orthomorpha crinita
has nothing to do with
Orthomorpha
.
