The species has been reported from almost all over South Africa; it is apparent that this species occupies a wide range of biotopes. It is common in the upper layers of soil, mostly in rotting litter in plantations ( Plisko 2010 ) and decomposed sugar-cane reeds ( Ljungstroem 1972 ). In the present study, Amynthas corticis was collected from maize fields only.
