Material observed : 2 individuals, 12 Feb , 2014, Gales Island–SC, 7m , 27°10'88.7''S 48°24'61.5''W , in outcropping coral Madracis decactis (Lyman, 1859) between coral structures. Distribution. Western Atlantic, at Bermuda , Virginia to South Carolina, Florida, Gulf of Mexico , Bahamas , Mexico (Quintana Roo and Yucatan), West Indies, and Brazil . In Brazil occur in Atol das Rocas (3o S), Fernando de Noronha (13o S), and from Amapá (01o N) to São Paulo (23o S). Remark. The present record (27o S) extends the species range 500 km towards the south in the western Atlantic.
