Body suboval, TL 3.2 mm , EW 2.0 mm; cuticle dark-brown on dorsal surfaces, brownish-black on ventral surfaces; generally large and elongate ( Fig. 1 ). Head finely punctate with short, brownish, recumbent pubescence. Palpi entirely brown; pubescence on mentum denser. Ocellus on front present. Antennae 11-segmented, antennal club 3-segmented, dark brown ( Fig. 2 ). Pronotum finely punctate like head covered by short, recumbent brownish pubescence. Scutellum triangular finely punctatum as pronotum, with short, brownish pubescence. Elytra finely punctate; cuticle dark brown with short, brownish, recumbent pubescence. Epipleuron dark brown with short, recumbent brownish pubescence. Legs brown with light brown pubescence; tibiae with short brown spines. Prosternal process very narrow and long. Meso-metasternum with short, brownish, recumbent pubescence. Abdominal sternites with short, brownish, recumbent pubescence. Male genitalia ( Fig. 3 ). Female. Unknown. Diagnosis. The new species is similar to Attagenus molitor Reitter, 1889 but differs from it by the broad form of body, structure of antennae and male genitalia, as A. molitor presents antennae yellowish-brown, not reaching posterior pronotal angles; pronotum dark brown to light black; elytra yellowish-brown ( China ¡ Xinjiang ; Iran ; Kazakhstan ; Mongolia ). Also differs from A. seniculus (Solsky, 1876) by the unicolorous antennae and structure of male genitalia. Etymology. The new species is named after Petr Zahradník ( Prague , Czech Republic ), his collector and very good friend of mine. Distribution. Species described from China ( Hebei province ).
