Diagnosis. Arpactophilus webbi is the only New Caledonian species in the genus with the combination of a long ventral tooth on the yellow mandible (about 1/3 of mandibular length) and a yellow clypeus with three teeth on the apical margin (including both sides; medial tooth smaller than lateral) ( Fig. 105 ). Other distinctive characters are the projecting yellow clypeus with six teeth (including both sides) and the dense, short, goldish setae on the frons ( Fig. 105 ) Remarks. Arpactophilus webbi seems most similar to A. xaracuu as both share the elongate mandibles (not as extensive in A. webbi ), the apical clypeal margin with three teeth and the strongly projecting labrum with 6 teeth ( Figs. 105 , 107 ). However, the two species can easily be distinguished by the almost completely black (partially reddish) body of A. xaracuu ( Figs. 107–108 ) in comparison to the extensively yellow marked clypeus, labrum, mandible, antenna, pronotal lobe and legs of A. webbi ( Figs. 105–106 ).
