Diagnosis.
Body green or yellowish. Anterior margin of vertex roundly produced. Pronotum broad, with anterior margin roundly produced and posterior margin nearly straight, middle length longer than that of vertex. Forewing rounded apically, apical cells occupying less than third its length, second apical cell long, apically slightly broader, third apical cell not stalked and usually rectangular,
RP
, MP1 from r cell and MP2 +CuA1 from m cell, c and r cells narrower than m and cua cells, distance between cu and m apical veins long; 1st and 2nd apical cells nearly equal to each other.
Hind
wing with CuA unbranched, apical cell long and broad. Pygofer side short, pygofer appendage surpassing the tip of pygofer side. Anal tube appendages well developed, smoothly tapered towards apex, large and smooth with a big subapical tooth or short and arcuate. Subgenital plate, in lateral view, curved gradually caudodorsad apically, not expanded apically, with numerous macrosetae and fine setae somewhat irregular; group A with 3–5 long stout setae subbasally; group B with 12–15 short microsetae on apical half, group C double near base with single row of macrosetae distally extended to apex.
Note.
We recognize
Distantasca
as a valid genus because, although it resembles
Empoasca
in external morphology, it differs in having the male subgenital plate with group D setae elongate and divided into distinct basal and distal groups and the connective with the stem strongly constricted and narrow.
