Taxonomic placement of tytonis is uncertain (incertae sedis). It was previously assigned to Amblysomus , Chlorotalpa , and Calcochloris but here included in Huetia because cladistic analyses of the few characteristics available suggest that it is more closely related to H. leucorhina .
