Margarinotus faedatus
is newly recorded on
Prince Edward Island
. The species is widely distributed in the Maritime Provinces (
Fig. 1
). It has been recorded in
Canada
from
Ontario
,
Quebec
,
New Brunswick
, and
Nova Scotia
, and occurs south to Texas and
Georgia
in the
United States
. It is found in decaying organic matter such as carrion, dung, and rotten mushrooms (
Bousquet and Laplante 2006
).
