Depth: surface (nightlight; Personal communication:Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California), 12–214 m ( 99–702 ft ) (min.: Godínez-Domínguez et al. 2000 ; max.: Mundy 2005 ). Morera et al. (20019) report on a capture at a depth of 500 m ( 1,640 ft ), however this capture was made in a bottom trawl and the fish may have been captured in midwaters during deployment or retrieval.
