Body oval, slightly convex above, shining, covered sparsely with fine setae. Coloration of body almost reddish brown, but antennae and maxillary palpi infuscate; elytra reddish brown in basal 1/4, dark brown in apical 3/4, with yellowish-brown markings in apical 1/3 and apices, its anterior markings transverse, its apical ones oval. Head moderate in size, slightly convex above in dorsal surface, finely punctate; clypeus wide, expanded laterally in basal parts, gently arcuate in front margin. Eyes moderate in size, prominent; the distance between the eyes ca. 2.0 times as long as the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae slender, relatively short. Pronotum slightly convex above in mesal part of the disk, punctured as on head; antero-lateral angles obtuse, ca. 120º, slightly projecting anteriorly; front margin gently arcuate; lateral margins arcuate; postero-lateral angles obtuse; posterior margin gently bisinuate; PW/PL 2.28. Scutellum moderate in size, equilateral-triangular, punctured as on head. Elytra oblong, rather convex above, widest at the middle, closely punctate; humeral portions slightly elevated; EL/EW 1.36; EL/PL 4.39; EW/PW 1.41; TL/EW 1.67. Legs relatively long. Hind tibial spurs short, slightly curved laterally; dorsal ones ca. 2.0 times as long as ventral ones; ca. 0.8 times as long as hind tarsomere 1. Sternite III sparsely and somewhat irregularly covered with short setae; sternite IV covered with short setae; sternites V–VII closely covered with long setae. Caudal margin of sternite VII shallowly concave. Tergite VIII moderately sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing long spines on apical margin, with a pair of short apodemes; tergite IX lightly sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing short spines at apex, with a pair of long and stout apodemes; sternite IX lightly sclerotized, oval, bearing short setae at apex. Tegmen and penis connected; basal part of tegmen oval; parameres short, almost straight, with three pairs of small projections in apical part of lateral margins, sparsely punctate; penis very long, sparsely punctate in apical part. The species is named after the terra typica, Philippines Isl. Notes. Basal portion of elytra orange, elytral spots yellow. Similar to Scirtes basifasciatus Pic , but elytral suture black (orange in S . basifasciatus ), penis much longer than parameres (as long as parameres in S . basifasciatus ), parameres short, with three pairs of small projections in lateral margins.
