Description.
Large species. Head: Face ovoid; forehead in middle with fine riffles, laterally nearly smooth; fastigium verticis little wider than scapus; ocelli little distinct; fastigium frontis separated from fastigium verticis by a very fine suture; subocular furrows shallow (
Fig. 48E
). Abdominal tergites two and three without stridulatory pegs.
Wings surpassing middle of stretched hind tibiae (
Fig. 46
C–D). Tegmen: Radius with two branches, both forked near tip; media anterior arises free from base; cubitus anterior at base with a single branch that forks into two veins, the anterior branch makes a curvature and receives an oblique connection vein from MA and shortly after divides again into two parallel branches, MP and CuA1, while the posterior branch (CuA2) does not divide further; variation: specimen 3258513: the free basal media receives a branch from R, immediately gives back a branch to R before it divides into MA and MP, in this specimen there is no basal connection with CuA and both, cubitus anterior and cubitus posterior are single branched, free throughout. With 4 anal veins, the last two with common base.
Legs: Fore coxa with a spine at fore margin; fore and mid femora unarmed; fore and mid tibiae with four pairs of large ventral spines and one pair of smaller ventral spurs; hind femur with 9–10 external and 10–12 internal spines on ventral margins; hind tibia with spaced spines on both dorsal margins, ventral margins with one preapical spine; with 3 apical spurs on both sides.
Coloration. General color light brown; vertex with black mark at antennal scrobae; pronotum with narrow black margins widened at fore and hind margins; legs of general color, genicular areas black; ventral spines on fore and mid tibiae black; hind tibia with black dorsal spines and black flecks around their bases. Face uniformly yellowish brown; antennal scrobae only laterally darkened, its ventral margins yellowish; mandibles and ventral part of labrum black. Tegmen semi-transparent yellowish, towards base darker; veins yellow or brown; hind wing semi-transparent white or light grey, main veins yellow to brown; cross veins dark brown.
Male. Ninth abdominal tergite furrowed in midline, above ventro-apical margin swollen on both sides of midline and swellings prolonged into long and narrow, slightly sinuate projections with obtuse tip, pointing to the opposite side and slightly ventrad and crossing each other; surface of ninth tergite just above base of projection concavely depressed (
Figs. 49
E–F). Subgenital plate short, wider than long, with long, stout, and upcurved styli inserted at lateral margins not far from base; subgenital plate only little projecting between bases of styli, much shorter than styli and with faintly bilobate apical margin.
Female. Seventh abdominal sternite normal, faintly projecting apically, with apical margin truncate in middle. Subgenital plate with base little widened on both sides, afterwards with convex and slightly converging lateral margins and a faint medial carina, apex bilobate; at base with a deep oval groove with strongly sclerotised black lateral margins (
Fig. 51C
). Base of ovipositor normal. Ovipositor elongate, very slightly curved with slightly converging margins; before tip margins more strongly narrowing, tip subobtuse (
Fig. 51D
).
