Head: Face ovoid; forehead nearly smooth with some scattered impressed dots and very fine transverse riffles; fastigium verticis moderately wider than scapus, separated by a transverse suture from fastigium frontis; ocelli very distinct, light yellow; median ocellus very large ( Fig. 22G ). Abdominal tergites two and three each with two rows of stridulatory pegs. Wings about reaching hind knees or little shorter ( Figs. 21 G–I). Tegmen: Radius with two branches: R after releasing of RS unbranched (as exception with another short branch near tip), RS forked near tip; media anterior has a common stem with radius, arising as first posterior branch of R; media posterior absent; cubitus anterior undivided; cubitus posterior undivided, free throughout; with 5 anal veins plus a short and weak incomplete vein at hind margin of tegmen ( Fig. 1C ); in one male at hand, the third anal vein is divided into two branches. Legs: Fore coxa with a large spine at fore margin; fore and mid femora unarmed; fore and mid tibiae with four pairs of large ventral spines and one pair of smaller ventral spurs; hind femur with 6–12 external and 10–14 internal spines on ventral margins; hind tibia with spaced spines on both dorsal margins, ventral margins with one preapical spine; with 3 apical spurs on both sides. Coloration. General color brown without distinct pattern except for wings. Face uniformly brown except for light ocelli; mandibles black, at very base brown. Tegmen and hind wing yellowish or light brown, veins little darker, the cells between veins and cross-veins with a dark brown spot in middle, borderlines light. Male. Ninth abdominal tergite globular, apical surface with a roughly triangular depression, at ventral margin on both sides of depression with a stout bloated process with dorsal tip subacute and from ventral margin of that process with a basically compressed, short narrow upcurved projection ( Figs. 23 G–H). Epiproct normal with medial furrow, paraproctes forming large vaulted plates at internal side of bases of cerci. Subgenital plate wider than long with a small elevation in middle, apical margin faintly bilobate; styli about as long as length of subgenital plate, inserted at latero-apical angles ( Fig. 23I ). Female. Seventh abdominal sternite prolonged, clubbed with narrow apical area fitting in a wide furrow of subgenital plate. Subgenital plate wider at base with membranous central area, posterior area with concave lateral margins and with strongly swollen lateral areas, terminating in diverging subacute tips; along midline with a wide furrow ( Figs. 24 F–G). Ovipositor falcate, mainly in basal area strongly curved, with gradually approaching margins towards apex; tip subacute ( Fig. 22H ). Measurements ( 14 males , 12 females ).—body w/wings: male 28–39, female 33–43; body w/o wings: male 25– 36, female 25–40; pronotum: male 7–9, female 7–9); tegmen: male 17.0–26.5, female 18–27; tegmen width: male 10, female 9–10; hind femur: male 16–20, female 16–21; antenna: male 115–180, female 105–170; ovipositor: female 8.0– 15.5 mm . The specimens available for study differ (greatly) in size. Specimens from Cuc Phuong are distinctly larger than those from Tam Dao.
