Redescription of male
(

,
holotype
). Body lustrous including elytra, glabrous (with scarce short setae on apical slopes of elytra and on outer margin of outer elytral costa), completely yellowish orange, except apices of mandibles black.
Measurements. Male:
6.3 mm
(
holotype
).
Labrum transverse, without setae (probably broken in
holotype
), anterior margin distinctly concave, lateral margins convergent. Anterior part of head short, impunctate, glabrous with several pale setae below antennal insertions. Interocular space wide,
1.45
times as wide as transverse diameter of eye. Interantennal space as wide as transverse diameter of antennal socket. Frontal tubercles subtriangular, slightly elevated, lustrous, glabrous, impunctate. Vertex impunctate, glabrous, without visible median line. Antennae filiform, length ratio of antennomeres equals

Pronotum
1.35
times as broad as long, widest at first quarter, disc with slightly convex anterior half, posterior half impressed. Anterior margin moderately concave, unbordered. Lateral margins bordered, with anterior half slightly rounded, posterior half straight and slightly convergent. Posterior margin moderately rounded, thinly bordered. Anterior angles rectangular, posterior angles obtusangulate. All angles with setigerous pore (setae broken in
holotype
). Scutellum impunctate, triangular, with rounded apex.
Elytra lustrous,

times as long as wide and
0.71
times as long as body, with three distinct costae starting near humerus and ending before apex and traces of the fourth costa in apical half of elytral length along suture. Apex moderately rounded. Epipleura very narrow, disappearing before apex.

Ventral surface subopaque, finely punctate, covered with pale setae. Abdomen simple (last ventrite not examined).
Aedeagus symmetrical, apex gradually rounded to triangular tip, base narrow and convergent. In lateral view, apical quarter straight (
Fig.
8
).
Female unknown.
Differential diagnosis.
Hoplasoma sumatranum
is closely related to
H. acuminatum
. Both species share the characters mentioned in definition of species group. The
holotype
of
Hoplasoma sumatranum
has long and thin first tarsomeres while the first tarsomeres in
H. acuminatum
are distinctly widened (
Figs
16–19
). Aedeagus of
H. sumatranum
has narrowed and convergent basal quarter (wide in
H. acuminatum
) and in lateral view the apical quarter is straight (slightly bent up in
H. acuminatum
) (
Figs
7–8
).
