Comments.
Ectopomyia baculigera
was described from
Laos
by
Hardy (1973)
and recorded from
Laos
and southern
China
by
Hancock (2014)
. Both
E. baculigera
and genus
Ectopomyia
are recorded for the first time from Kerala,
India
. Adults are pale yellow; scutum with 2 lateral black longitudinal vittae; wing predominantly brown with hyaline marginal spots and indentations, cell c with a brown quadrate spot. The sexes are dimorphic in wing pattern and males have a large ventral appendage on the fore femur (
Hardy, 1973
).
E. baculigera
differs from
E. hancocki
Chua
, which is the only other described species of this genus and distributed in West
Malaysia
, in wing pattern and anepisternum characters (
Chua, 2009
;
Hancock, 2014
).
