Nomenclatural changes and redescriptions in Plateros Bourgeois, 1879 (Coleoptera: Lycidae) from Neotropical region Author Nascimento, Elynton Alves Do Author Bocakova, Milada text Zootaxa 2012 3487 77 84 journal article 10.5281/zenodo.212348 4f27dcbe-dc0c-4afd-892e-547d1805f2b8 1175-5326 212348 C2C8C3D5-833A-4A36-A7F0-038DE4C920AC Plateros curtebilineatus ( Pic, 1934 ) comb. et stat. nov. Calleros brasiliensis var. curtebilineatus Pic, 1934 : 128 . Type material. Holotype , female, BRAZIL “Bahia” without other data ( MNHN ). Diagnosis : P. curtebilineatus differs from P. brasiliensis Lucas, 1857 by the shape of genitalia, in having larger scutellum and by presenting uniform dark brown coloration in elytral apical ½. Redescription : Body with ventral surface dark brown. Head dark brown with prominent eyes, eye diameter 1.1x longer than interocular distance. Antennae subserrate, antennomere 4 as long as 5, about 1.6x longer than 3. Mandibles stout, labial palpi short, maxillary palpi elongate, terminal palpomere 1.4x longer than 2 and 2.5x longer than palpomere 3. Pronotum subpentagonal, 1.1x wider than long, widest at basal margin with posterior angles projected obliquely, basal margin bisinuate, discrete median longitudinal carina present at apical 1/6, longitudinal median line channeled in basal half. Pronotum dark brown along median portion with lateral sides yellow. Scutellum dark brown, subsquare, large, straight distally. Elytra yellow, dark brown in distal ½, each elytron with 9 costae, primary costae stronger, regular reticulate cells subsquare. Prosternum triangular, strongly transverse, mesosternum trapezoidal. Legs compressed, trochanters yellow, conical. Femora dark brown, with proximal half yellow, 1.1x longer than tibiae, ¼ as long as trochanter. Female abdominal sternum 9 rounded apically, with shallow emargination distally. Female genitalia with long coxites, projected dorsally and medially to accommodate the proctiger, lateral sides convergent distally. Valvifers reduced, integrated to coxites. Proctiger well developed, styli small ( Fig. 7 ). Body length: 8 mm , humeral width: 1.9 mm . Distribution : Brazil (Northeastern region, Bahia state) Remark : Bocakova (2001) synonymized Calleros to Plateros , so P. brasiliensis validity is reinstated ( cf. Pic, 1934 ), known to occur in Southeastern Brazil , São Paulo State. Examination of the holotype of Calleros brasiliensis var. curtebilineatus Pic, 1934 from MNHN showed that it is a member of Plateros , forming a separate species from Plateros brasiliensis . Therefore, Calleros brasiliensis var. curtebilineatus Pic, 1934 is transferred to the genus Plateros and Plateros curtebilineatus ( Pic, 1934 ) comb. et stat. n. is proposed.
