Remarks . Three males and three females , of which two females are ovigerous, agree well with the photographs of Portunus gracilimanus given by Stephenson and Campbell (1959 : pl. 4 fig. 1, pl. 5 fig. M), Takeda and Miyake (1969a : fig. 1), and Dai and Yang (1981 : pl. 27 fig. 6) in the characteristic arrangements of the epi- and protogastric linear, transverse ridges of the carapace, and both cheliped fingers being rather prominently curved outward at the tips. Figures were also given by A. Milne-Edwards (1861) as Achelous Whitei A. Milne-Edwards , and by Chopra (1935) and Shen (1937) as Neptunus (Lupocycloporus) gracilimanus . Distribution . Widely distributed in the Indo-West Pacific from the East China Sea southwards to Queensland , Australia and westwards to the east coast of India , 5–55 m depth.
