Type species: Ascalenia stereodoxa Meyrick, 1925 . Melnea Clarke, 1986 : 180 . Type species: Ascalenia armigera Meyrick, 1923 . Diagnoses . Gisilia is similar to Bifascioides Kasy, 1968 , in the presence of the asymmetrical valvae, the lack of a sclerotized uncus in the male genitalia and the presence of piercing oviscapt in the female genitalia, but differs from the latter in having the forewing vein M1 free from the vein Rs4 (M1 branching off from Rs 4 in Bifascioides ). Gisilia is characterized by the forewing vein M1 branching off from the Rs3+Rs4 stem ( Kasy 1968 ); the male genitalia having asymmetrical valvae and lacking a sclerotized uncus ( Kasy 1968 ); and the female genitalia having the ostium bursae shifted to the left side of the sternite VII with a sclerotized band around it ( Kasy 1970 ).
