Description of female.
Like male, but more robust body, shorter antennae, surpassing the posterior angles of pronotum about two segments (more than three in males), and pronotum wider (
Figs 69, 71–74
). The sclerotized spines of bursa copulatrix as in
Fig. 233
.
Diagnosis.
Dima neumanni
is a medium-sized to large species (body length:
11.5–14.7 mm
) with the coarse pronotal punctation, the long straight erect setae on the pronotal sides (
Fig. 146
), and long straight semi-erect to erect pubescence of elytra (
Figs 67–74
). The species limits of
D. neumanni
and
D. schnitteri
are unclear and it is possible, that they are conspecific.
Dima schnitteri
is known only from the lower elevations of the southern part of the Erimanthos Mts. (south from the distributional range of
D. neumanni
;
Fig. 246
), is mostly larger, more flattened and paler (
Figs 105–108
). The third species in the region,
D. assingi
, is also morphologically very like
D. neumanni
, but differs in the elytra with shorter decumbent to semi-erect pubescence in basal third or half, and in not erect (only semi-erect) setae in the first halfs of the pronotal sides (
Figs 6–9
,
120
).
Intraspecific variability.
Dima neumanni
is rather a morphologically variable species, with the long erect pubescence of elytra as the only stable character. The apical part of the scutellum is either more or less rounded or subacute. The specimens from Aroania Mts. are paler, and one of the males has more elongate apical lobe of paramera. All known specimens from Aroania Mts. and some from Panachaiko Mts. have more parallel-sided and elongate pronotum than the specimens from the
type
locality in Erimanthos Mts. (
Figs 67–74
). It must be noted, that all specimens of
D
.
assingi
(which differs only slightly from
D. neumanni
and occurs also in Aroania Mts.) are lightly colored and have also more elongate pronotum (
Figs 6–9
). The limits of the
Dima
species distributed in the northern
Peloponnese
must be confirmed by future studies including much more extensive sampling and the DNAbased methods of species identification.
Distribution.
Greece

: Erimanthos Mts., Panachaiko Mts., Aroania Mts.;
