Diagnosis.
Dima fialai
sp. nov.
belongs to the group of species with more convex, suboval-shaped body and shiny elytral intervals with very sparsely distributed thin setae (
Figs 29–30
). It differs from
D. macedonica
,
D. florinensis
and
D. dusaneki
sp. nov.
by the pubescence of the pronotal sides, which is short and almost decumbent at anterior 3/4 of the margin length, with longer semi-erect setae only posteriorly near hind angles (
Fig. 128
). Additionally,
D. dusaneki
sp. nov.
differs from
D. fialai
sp. nov.
by the more robust body, shape of pronotum (not so narrowed toward anterior margin, with evenly rounded sides in
D. dusaneki
sp. nov.
;
Figs 20–21
) and slightly denser pronotal punctation (
Fig. 123
).
Dima vailatii
Schimmel & Platia, 2008
, which has a similar
type
of pubescence at the pronotal sides, differs from
D. fialai
sp. nov.
in different shape of pronotum (widest medially;
Figs 109–113
), matt elytra with denser and longer pubescence, and larger subapical tooth at apex of paramera (
Figs 217–219
).
Dima elateroides
, which occurs north of
D. fialai
sp. nov.
, has a similar shape of pronotum, but differs apparently in the smooth body surface, longer antennomeres II and III, much sparser pronotal punctation, wider, basally emarginate scutellum, and narrower apical lobe of paramera (
Figs 22–24
,
182
).
Description.
Holotype
, male. Body medium-sized,
10.9 mm
long,
4.6 mm
wide, shiny, covered with short dense pubescence on pronotum and very sparse on elytra. Body blackish-brown, with paler, reddish-brown legs and antennae, elytral margins and suture, and sublateral bends posterad of elytra; pubescence yellowish (
Fig. 29
).
Head including eyes 0.6 times as wide as pronotum, frons very slightly depressed; punctation sparse and coarse, denser apically, intervals between punctures shiny; pubescence on head semi-erect, more erect in anterior part of frons, directed forwards. Supraantennal carina short, indistinct. Antennae moderately long, surpassing the posterior angles of pronotum by more than three segments; antennomeres II and III subtriangular, about 1.5 times longer than wide, subequal, together 1.3 times longer than antennomere IV, length ratio of antennomeres II–IV 1.0: 1.0: 1.5, antennomeres IV to X gradually widened apically, about 2 times longer than wide, apical antennomere longest, subacute apically; surface of antennomeres covered with moderately long, semi-erect setae.
Pronotum 1.4 times wider than long, widest at two thirds, moderately convex dorsally; sides convex, moderately gradually narrowed toward frontal margin; anterior angles obtuse, posterior angles short, prominent, sharp, only slightly produced outward; punctation sparse, coarse, punctures on disc equally distributed, intervals flat, shiny. Pubescence on pronotal disc moderately long, decumbent, that on pronotal sides decumbent at anterior 3/4, semi-erect posteriorly, with longer setae at posterior angles (
Fig. 128
). Prosternum finely, moderately sparsely punctate, with short semi-erect setae; prosternal lobe moderately coarsely punctate, with longer semi-erect pubescence.
Scutellum sub-pentagonal, slightly convex, in lateral view in the plane of elytra, anterior part slightly raised, widest at two thirds; frontal margin straight, gradually declined; apex rounded, punctation fine, dense; pubescence fine, moderately long, semi-erect. Elytra suboval, 3.1 times longer than pronotum, convex, widest at two thirds; striae well developed along the whole elytral length, some irregularly interrupted by coarse sparse punctures; surface of interstices flattened, shiny, densely punctate; punctures shallow, equally distributed, of the same size; pubescence very short, sparsely distributed.
Aedeagus elongate; paramera long, narrow, its apical lobe robust, short, subapical tooth short, obtuse (
Fig. 184
).
Female (
Fig. 30
). Like male, but more robust, with shorter antennae (surpassing the posterior angles of pronotum about 1.5 segments), pronotum distinctly wider than in male (1.6 times wider than long), scutellum wider, with frontal margin rounded. The sclerotized spines of bursa copulatrix as in
Fig. 227
.
Intraspecific variability.
Body length:
10.7–12.6 mm
. As in many other
Dima
spp., some specimens have denser pronotal punctation with intervals wrinkled, matt.
Distribution.
Macedonia
(Šar planina:
Tetovo
; Mavrovo;
Fig. 244
).
Etymology.
