Some records of female Ixodes luciae have been published under the name Ixodes loricatus spinosus , described by Nuttall (1910) , a preoccupied name changed to Ixodes loricatus vogelsangi by Santos Dias (1954b) , but the name Ixodes luciae , published in 1940, has precedence over Ixodes loricatus vogelsangi , which is a synonym of Ixodes luciae .
