Giesbert & Hovore (1998) state that Cyphonotida rostrata occurs from Texas and Arizona through Mexico and Central America to Colombia , and is highly variable in color; the pronotum, legs and elytra grading between black and red–orange. The nominate form has a wide distribution in South America . Geographical distribution. The species was described from Colombia , and occurs northward through most of Central America and Mexico .
