Distribution
Palaearctic.
Boletina polaris
(Fig. 14) was described from arctic Siberia (
Lundstroem
1915
) and has been later found from the Kola Peninsula, northernmost parts of Russia (
Zaitzev 1994
), north Sweden (Lule Lappmark,
Kjaerandsen et al. 2007
), Norway (
Soli
and Rindal 2012
), Germany (
Chandler 2004
) and the Italian Alps (
Kurina 2008
). New for Finland. Finnish records are from SW Lapland (mid boreal zone) and eastern Lapland (north boreal zone).
Ecology
Finnish collecting localities are characterized by small lotic waters surrounded by pristine or seminatural boreal forests. Immature stages are unknown.
