Etymology. The new species is named after the type locality “ Hendan ” which is a mountain village near the bank of the Baishuijiang River. The epithet is a noun in apposition. Diagnosis. Shell with 6.250–8.000 whorls. Height 7.1–8.5, diam. maj. 2.8–3.2. Parietal tooth present. Columellar tooth prominent and expanded inward. Palatal tooth present, ridge-like. Epiphallus forming a few loops. Flagellum present. Penial caecum present. Penis distally with one V-shaped pilaster. A-2 near A-3 internally without a ring of papillae. A-3 opening into A-2 through a long needle-like papilla. Bursa copulatrix duct proximally twisted. Diverticle present. Shell. Pointed-ovate; apex not acuminate; dextral; thin-shelled; solid; opaque; dull; with 6.250–7.441–8.000 whorls. Whorls never spirally grooved; convex. Embryonic shell smooth; not polished; with 1.500–1.638–2.125 whorls. Postnuclear whorls wrinkled. Whorls with a narrow, defined zone below the suture, especially after the first three whorls. Last whorl straight in front, or gradually ascending toward aperture; rounded at periphery. Shell 7.1– 7.8–8.5 high; 2.8–3.0– 3.2 in diam. maj. Height/diam. maj. ratio 2.29–2.62–2.94. Aperture subovate; almost vertical; its insertions separated; 2.3–2.6–2.8 high, 2.0–2.1–2.4 wide. Ratio of shell height to aperture height 2.80– 3.06–3.43. Palatal margin rounded. Peristome expanded; sharp. Parietal callus distinct; with angular tubercle. Parietal tooth present. Palatal wall with a ridge-like tooth which is extended 1/4 to 1/3 whorl inward. Columellar margin reflexed; with one prominent tooth expanding inward. Umbilicus narrowly open. Shell uniformly greenishbrown; aperture of the same colouration. Genitalia. Vas deferens short; of even thickness; entering epiphallus apically. Epiphallus long; narrowed towards distal end; forming a few loops. Epiphallic caecum apically blunt; almost in middle of epiphallus. Flagellum present; short; tubular; proximally not expanded; with blunt tip. Penis clavate and proximally slightly enlarged; thin-walled; with terminal entrance of epiphallus; internally with pilasters and one V-shaped pilaster. Proximal free ends of V-shaped pilaster approaching at penial retractor insertion. Papilla developed by fused distal pilasters forming V-shaped structure absent. Penial caecum conic; situated at penis close to epiphallus. Penial verge absent. Penial appendix short; branched off from penis at some distance from atrium; divided into sections including A-1+A-2, A-3 and A-4+A-5. A-1 long; without verge toward penial chamber. A-1 and A-2 fused; internally with longitudinal pilasters. A-2 near A-3 internally without a ring of papillae. A-2 and A-3 not fused. A- 3 opening into A-2 through needle-like, long papilla. Boundary between A-4 and A-5 indistinct. A-5 short; straight. Atrium without retractor. Free oviduct moderately long; longer than vagina. Bursa copulatrix duct long; proximally twisted. Bursa copulatrix small; well defined. Diverticle longer than reservoir; seldom unexpanded. FIGURE 8. A–B, Pupopsis torquilla (Möllendorff, 1901) . A, lectotype, SMF-42082; B, HBUMM-05584–specimen 1. P: 1.5; Ep: 10.2; Fl: 0.9; VD: 4.8; Va: 0.9; FO: 1.2; BCD: 10.4; BC: 0.5; D: 3.8; A- 1+A-2: 1.2; A-3: 0.4; A-4+A-5: 5.4 (HBUMM-05592–specimen 1, paratype ). Remarks. The new species has a fully armed aperture with a parietal tooth, a columellar tooth and a palatal, ridge-like tooth. The columellar tooth is nearly invisible in apertural view, but it is distinctly expanded inwards along the columella. The genitalia of P. hendan are closest to P . subpupopsis sp. nov. but differ in the interior structure of the distal part of the penis.
