Family
Hasstilesiidae Hall
In the Americas, hasstilesiids are parasites of rodents and lagomorphs. The record below is the first from a bat.
Hasstilesia tricolor
is essentially a parasite of rabbits. All of the larval development of this group takes place in the molluscan host. The infection of frugivorous bats may take place when they accidentally ingest infected molluscs in their diet or by drinking water containing cercarial larvae.
