Perennial
herbs
, erect, almost glabrous,
stems
single, branching in upper part, cauline
leaves
with narrow long sheaths, leaf blades heterophyllous: bipinnate in lower part with primary segments on short petiolules and long narrow-linear lobes 3–5 (10) cm long, 1–2 (3) mm wide; and narrow-linear pinnate with entire narrow-linear segments
5–20 mm
long in upper part.
Bracts
(1–) 3–5 extremely polymorphic, linear or pinnate with linear lobules 1–3 (–5) cm. The longest bracts exceed the
umbel
. Rays 14–15, thin, slightly unequal, scabrous,
3–15 cm
long.
Bracteoles
8, filiform, elongated, ciliated,
1–2 cm
long, exceed umbellule. Pedicels about
5 mm
. Flowers 20–40, calyx teeth noticeable, sharply unequal;
petals
pink, at base with well-developed claw, almost entire, with oval plate and short incurved apex. Stylopodia pressed-conical, styles short. Fruits glabrous, almost cylindrical, carpophore is bipartite almost to base.
Mericarps
slightly dorsally compressed, oblong; ribs all similar, narrowly winged, slightly widened at the base; vascular bundles slightly elongated in radial direction; commissure narrow. Secretory ducts between ribs 2–3, at commissural side 4–6; endosperm at commissural side almost flat.
Type:
Oreocomoides stelliphora

Lectotype of
Oreocomoides stelliphora
(E00296330).
Affinities:—
The new genus
Oreocomoides
markedly differs from
Oreocomopsis
in many morphological characters, such as heterophyllous leaf blades: bipinnate in lower part and narrow-linear pinnate in upper part; the primary leaf segments almost sessile on short petioles up to
0.5 cm
long; bracts extremely polymorphic, linear or pinnate with linear lobules; calyx teeth developed; petals with oval plate, at base with well-developed claw; pedicels rounded; mericarps ribs all the same, narrowly-winged, slightly widened at the base.
Etymology:—
The name displays a connection with the genera
Oreocome
and
Oreocomopsis
.
Distribution:—
A monotypic genus distributed in
Nepal
, NW
India
. (

).
