Taxonomic notes:—
Eperua oleifera
var.
campestris
differs from the
type
variety by being a treelet or shrub (vs. tall tree in
var.
oleifera
) with the lower and middle pair of leaflets having a rounded, cordate to subcordate base (vs. rounded to obtuse, rarely cordate or subcordate, in
var.
oleifera
), and very conspicuous tertiary veins (vs. conspicuous to inconspicuous in
var.
oleifera
)
.
Eperua oleifera
var.
campestris
presents strigose to tomentose inflorescence (vs. tomentose, indumentum tending to be denser, in
var.
oleifera
), and it is the only reproductive difference, justifying its permanency as a variety.
